Apart from her position at Neurogen, she is also a visiting Stem Cell Consultant & Neuropathologist at the Stem cell & Genetic Research Center, Department of Neurosurgery, L.T.M. Medical college & L.T.M. General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai and a Consultant Neuropathologist and Director at Ajanta Clinic, Bandra, Mumbai. She holds an award from the Government of India DST grant for research in Basic /Applied Sciences on experimental study to evaluate the effectiveness of Embryonic Stem Cells in traumatic spinal cord injury. She is a member of the International Society of Neuropathology, British Society of Neuropathology and the International Society of Stem Cell, USA.
Past positions held
After her Fellowships at the National Institute of Health, NIH, Baltimore, John Hopkins, USA, in Neural Stem Cells and at the Kentucky Spinal Cord and Injury Research Centre, KSCIRC, USA, in Molecular Neurobiology and Neuroregeneration, she set up the Stem cell Centre at the L.T.M. Medical college & L.T.M. General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai. She was Awarded Government of India DST grant for research.
Educational background
She earned her MBBS in 1986 and a MD degree from the prestigious GS Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai University, where she held the post of Associate Professor in the Department of Neuropathology. She received further specialized training in immunohistochemistry and Electron Microscopy in Neuropathology from the renowned National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences NIMHANS.
