Millions of people in the world are severely affected by paralysis. Paralysis can either be termed as complete or partial. It occurs when the messages from the muscles do not reach the brain. The chief causes of paralysis are spinal cord injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, ALS and multiple sclerosis.
“Blink to Speak” is an “eye language”, produced by TBWA (India) for the NeuroGen Brain & Spine Institute and Asha Ek Hope the non-profit organisation, to help people rendered helpless with paralysis communicate. This Campaign has won the ‘Health Grand Prix for Good’ award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2018.
NeuroGen BSI and Asha Ek Hope, in Mumbai, joined hands to help people with paralysis communicate. They circulated 10,000 copies of the ‘language’ and also an e-book, which is easily available online, to spread the awareness. This ‘language’ will simplify the communication between paralytic patients and their family/caregivers.
Now people diagnosed with ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, CP, etc. will be able to respond by using their eyes.
